I am opening my practice again for hands-on massage now that lockdown has now been relaxed enough and massage therapists have been given the green light to return to work. There will be some changes in the process both before and during each session, to help ensure both yours and my safety. I have completed a risk assessment as part of enabling to open my practice again.
To reduce our direct contact time, the initial consultation and reviews for subsequent sessions will be held remotely by Zoom or WhatsApp. As part of these consultations and reviews we will complete a COVID pre-screening questionnaire and consent form. You can complete the COVID pre-screening questionnaire and email it back prior to the consultation / review or you can sign it when you arrive. ** If you are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms or have been exposed to Covid-19, then please cancel your appointment. There will be no cancellation charge in these circumstances.**
Payment ideally should be made prior to the appointment via card payment but can also be made by card contactless payment during the session.
Please bring your own pen and water if required and minimise the belongings you bring to essentials only.
When you arrive, you will be required to wear a mask before entering and throughout the session, take off your shoes and sanitise your hands. There is a poster with a QR code that you can scan if you have the NHS covid-19 test-and-trace app. Please walk into the practice room trying not to touch anything. The massage table and contact surfaces will have been thoroughly disinfected. You will be given a container in which to put your clothing and personal items.
I will be wearing gloves, mask and a visor. I change my clothing between clients. Being massaged in gloves is not unpleasant – you will barely feel the difference. Massage time is 45 minutes and contact time is no more than 60 minutes; this includes re-assessment of range of motion.
When the massage is over, please leave all the linens, towels on the table. Put your clothes back on and exit again without touching anything. You may also wish to use the bathroom and wash your hands before you put your shoes back on. Hand sanitizer is readily available.
There will be an approximate 45-minute gap between clients, to enable disinfection of the practice space, therapy table and equipment, hallways and bathrooms etc, with enough time to dry and take effect.
Massage in a COVID Secure Environment - Keeping us all safe
Coronavirus Covid-19 Update
On Thursday 5th November England went into 'lockdown until Wednesday 2nd December. Guidance from my professional association, the Massage Training Institute, in line with the new regulations have advised it's members that they may continue to see clients if they can comply with additional precautions and only when the client has a justifiable clinical need for massage therapy. This is to do as much as possible to protect their members, clients and the wider population from Covid-19 infection. One of the requirements is that treatments only take place in a designated clinic and not in a home-based treatment room. Given my location, I have made the decision to temporarily pause hands-on treatment until Friday 4th December. I shall be offering online consultations and self-care sessions. Please visit my Massage & Prices page for more information.
